As we prepare to kick off the Rotary International Convention in Bangkok, Thailand today, we wanted to celebrate the fact that tomorrow RAGM and Rotary International are welcoming Professor Muhammad Yunus to speak at both the Plenary Session and the RAGM Breakout Session "Peace and Prosperity through Microcredit" (Monday, May 7, from 14:30 to 16:00
in the Phoenix Ballroom at the IMPACT Centre, Bangkok).
As a prelude to his address, this blog highlights a recent TEDx talk Professor Yunus gave on the History of Microcredit, and how the movement is poised to include social business as a flagship idea to provide more opportunities and tools to help micro-entrepreneurs around the world create a solid financial future for themselves and their families.
We hope this gives you a strong background into microcredit; we look forward to seeing you tomorrow at Professor Yunus's address!
About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
